How to do an effective search

We give you several different ways to refine your search so you don’t get irrelevant information in your results.

Search by State or Region
You can search by State or Region or select all national or all regional data. This is a mandatory field so you must make a selection.

Search by Topic
If you know the Topic you want, for example: length of stay, enterprise planning or visitor information centres, then you can select a topic type from the drop down menu. If you are not sure of the topic, then select ‘Any’. This is also a mandatory field, so you must make a selection.

Search by Resource Type
We use the term ‘Resource’ to describe any item of information in our vast database.
You can search by Resource Type, for example: Report, Case Study, List, Program or Policy, or if you are unsure of the Resource Typre, you can select ‘Any’. This is also a mandatory field.

Search by Supplier
We get information from over 300 different organisations. If you know where the information you want comes from, we give you the option of selecting a particular supplier, or you can skip this filter if you want. You can only select one field in this menu.

Search by Date
You may want to look at patterns and track changes that emerge over time, so we also provide the option of filtering information by date. You can specifiy a start date, an end date or search between two dates. This is an optional field.

Search Text
This is essentially a key word search function covering the Title and one sentence Description for any Resource. It is particularly useful if the type of Resource you want is not listed under Topic/Resource Type.
